This page covers browsing metrics on maho-japanese.com only. Maho App accounts, payments and learning data are covered by the privacy information inside the App.
What we count
We aggregate page loads, scroll-depth thresholds, visible-page time thresholds, fixed-example interactions and signup, App Store or article link clicks by date, page, page language and content version. PDF worksheet and Anki text-material link clicks are counted separately by type. Sources are categorised only as direct, search, social, internal or other.
From October 8, 2026, newly received page loads also record the time, IP address, approximate country and city derived from the IP, device type, operating system, browser family and preferred browser language. Page language is separate from browser language. Missing fields remain unknown; historical details are not invented. Location lookups run against a database on our own server; we do not send visitor IPs to an external lookup service or obtain GPS location. VPNs, mobile networks and browser settings can affect classification; locations are not residential addresses.
We use no visitor identifiers, cookies or browser storage. We do not store full User-Agent strings, complete referring URLs, query parameters, question text or account data, and we do not join individual reading or click events into a personal activity history.
Use and retention
Data stays on our own server to understand reading, interactions, sources and device use. Aggregate counts are retained for up to 400 days. Page-load details containing IPs are retained for up to 30 days and cleared regularly; routine deployment metrics backups exclude those details. Reports are available to administrators through a private channel only, with no public individual-data reporting endpoint.
Page loads are not unique people; a shared IP does not identify one person. Signup link clicks are not completed registrations. Material or App Store link clicks do not confirm downloads, Anki imports or App installations.
Location data: IP Geolocation by DB-IP, using the free October 2026 database. Results are approximate.
Opt out
The website does not send metrics when your browser enables Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. You can also add ?maho_metrics=off to a website URL; this applies to the currently opened page. Contact: hello@appar.ai.
